People transport vehicles

Class A mopeds:

  • Power: 50 cc (centimeters/cube)
  • Vitesse: 25 km/h
  • Number of wheels: 2 to 3
  • No license
  • License plate starts with SA

Class B mopeds:

  • Power: 50 cc (centimeters/cube)
  • Vitesse: 45 km/h
  • Number of wheels: 2 to 4 
  • Allowed AM
  • License plate starts with SB

Speed pedelecs:

  • Electric bike with a power greater than 250 watts.   
  • Speed-pédélec falls into the category of mopeds.
  • Vitesse : 45 km/h
  • Allowed AM
  • License plate starts with SP

The motorcycle (or motorcycle with sidecar)

  • motor vehicle with 2, 3 or 4 wheels, with or without sidecar.
  • can be coupled to a trailer.
  • Displacement greater than 50 cc.
  • A, A1 or A2 license 

The car

  • Four-wheeled vehicle powered by a combustion engine (petrol, electric, gas, etc.), used for the land transport of people .

  • Maximum 8 passenger seats + 1 seat for the driver

  • Permit B

Le minibus

  • Land passenger transport vehicle .

  • Maximum 16 passenger seats + 1 seat for the driver

  • D1 license

The bus or coach

  • Vehicle for transporting people by land.

  • More than 16 passenger seats 

  • License D

Vehicles for transporting things

The van

  • Vehicles for transporting goods with a maximum authorized mass of 3.5 tonnes
  • Permit B

  • Permis C

Other vehicles

The scooter

  • The electric scooter is a travel device equipped with an electric motor.

The cycle 

  • It is a bicycle, tricycle or quadricycle propelled using pedals or cranks by one or more of their occupants and not equipped with a motor.


  • It is a vehicle intended to be pulled by our vehicle. A caravan is considered a trailer.

The attached vehicle

  • It is a vehicle without an engine which is pulled by one or more draft animals such as horses.

The rail vehicle

  • The tram is an electric traction public transport vehicle which runs on railway tracks , located on the roadway, on a special passable site or on a specific site.
